# Moderation

> Manage warnings, timeouts, bans, jail, cleanup, and moderation records.

## Before you moderate

Commands check permissions and role hierarchy. The bot needs the relevant Discord permission, and its role must be able to manage the target. Some commands also require the server owner or configured staff access.

## Warnings and timeouts

Warnings create records. Durations support units such as s, m, h, d, and w. Unmute removes an active timeout.

## Bans and jail

Temporary bans store an expiry and are lifted by scheduled checks. Jail needs configured roles and channel permissions; use setup or jailsetup first.

## Review and personalize

Use history and audit to review activity. Invoke templates customize responses, and log routes choose where events are reported.

## Command reference

Examples use the default comma prefix. Required inputs use angle brackets; optional inputs use square brackets. Each command notes whether it is also registered in Discord's slash menu.
